When we are called to step into the Fire

When we are called to step into the Fire

When we are called to step into the fire.

What does it look like when we are called to step into the fire?

I think what we find in the fire, is what we were looking for all along.

Point #1 The fire that consumes us.

I want to take a look Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego’s story because I think it will help us as we process and fight any negative spirit of “overwhelmed” the enemy might try and send our way.

Daniel 3:4-6 Then the herald loudly proclaimed, “Nations and peoples of every language, this is what you are commanded to do: As soon as you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. Whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be thrown into a blazing furnace.”

I don’t think most of our fires are life or death fires. But they could be a make or break in your currier, it could be a close relationship or family member. Some of those are life or death. Some of them are family members we are fighting for. Our fire could be a past event we aren’t ready to step into and begin healing with Jesus.

Point #2 The only way out is in.

Shadrach & friends went into the fire knowing full well God could save them, but said….

Daniel 3:17-18 “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But, even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Did you hear that? They said… even if not… we will only worship God.

I asked myself what if I walked into the fire and got burned up? What if the fired consumed me?

And I realized…. That wasn’t my choice. When I gave myself to God I decided to trust Him with my whole life.

Friends, that going to be our battle for the rest of our lives.

Trust.

Trust that god is good.

Trust that God is good to you & he has your best in mind.

His best and your best go hand in hand.

Part #3 What you find in the fire.

So, what do you find in the fire? We find God walking in the midst of us.

“I will never leave you or forsake you” Hebrews 13:5

This is powerful stuff. And when you are standing in the fire, and you are not consumed, you see Him.

The problem is Our Identity is wrapped up in what happens in the fire.

We wonder what it would look like if we fall apart and the fire took us over, and we don’t make it through.

But, I think what we find in the fire, is what we were looking for all along.

This week, I want to challenge you to surrender the identity that is attached to what happens in the fire. When Shadrach and friends said “God, we chose you!” God’s response was – “I know! I chose you first and I love you! Here i am with you in your midst.”
